Today IFFO RS published the new 2020 fees and price structure for the programme. The new prices can be found on the IFFO RS website by clicking here for IFFO RS, here for Chain of Custody and here for Improver Programe. The new prices will be effective from 1st January 2020 and current certified factories can expect to receive the annual invoice in March/April 2020.

Some of the key changes and additional elements added to the programme, such as verification procedures and logo licensing, will allow for the continual improvement and development of the programme as well as aid with the simplification of charges and administration. In turn, this will help to ensure that the IFFO RS remains the leading independent business to business certification programme for the production of marine ingredients on behalf of its stakeholders.

Below you can find a breakdown of some of the key changes and additions.

Key Changes and Additions:

  • Sharing of fishery assessment between countries: In order to improve the traceability and transparency of the fishery information in the programme, fisheries that are shared between countries (for example: North Sea) will be required to have one fishery report each, for this, the price of the assessment will not be shared between participant countries and will be required to pay the assessment charge.
  • MSC Verification: All applicants sourcing MSC raw material will be required to undergo an MSC verification procedure in order to authenticate that the raw material indeed comes from an MSC source. A transition period will be implemented for this requirement in 2020 and the MSC verification procedures will be communicated to all stakeholders in due course.
  • Logo Licensing: To protect and enforce the integrity of the logo usage and all certified and accepted sites will be required to pay the logo licensing fee.
  • Scope Extension Administration Fee: In the case that applicants wish to update important information such as addresses and contact information, or wish to add fisheries or by-products to their certification or request the addition of a new plant for example shall be charged an administration fee for the necessary processing.
  • Subcontractor Fee: Any companies using subcontractor services will be required to pay a registration fee per subcontractor to cover necessary administration and safeguard the traceability.
  • By-product charges: In order to improve transparency of information and traceability of by-products, by-product assessments will be conducted on a 1 stock per specie, per report basis. By-product assessments shall be charged per assessment report conducted per company where the by-product shall appear in the certificate scope.
  • Improver Programme annual FIP fee: This fee shall be payable on an annual basis in order to cover the administration and maintenance of the IP programme.

IFFO RS continues to work hard on behalf of its stakeholders to provide a credible, relevant and robust certification programme that will satisfy the needs of the market.
