Every year, IFFO – The Marine Ingredient Organisation, hosts a conference dedicated to the marine ingredient industry and its value chain partners. Hosted in a different city of the world each year and running for over 50 years, the annual conference attracts around 400 people representing up to 200 companies, drawn from over 40 different countries.

Over the years, there has been a steady increase in the awareness of, and demand for, third party certification in marine ingredient supply chain and as a result certification programmes have been working together towards improvements in marine ingredients supply chain that feeds the aquaculture industry. With this in mind, the IFFO RS side event will provide a platform for certification standards to update participants about the developments and how they are working towards demonstrable impacts, specifically through improvement projects

Objective

To update attendees and facilitate discussion between the key certification standards on the latest developments including impacts of the standards, progress in improvement projects for reduction fisheries and approaches to measuring improvements in multispecies fisheries as well as recognition of the major players in the aquaculture certification sector.

Stakeholder participants will be able to identify why it is important to measure the impacts of standards, what is currently being done in this area and how they interlink with others in the supply chain. Demonstrable impacts are strongly tied to Improver Programmes and participants will get an update on current work being carried out in this field, new developments and how these align with the objectives of IFFO RS.
